Minnie and Lefevre join forces…
May 26, 2015
With every project I work on, I always strive to bring something a little different on board and push myself more each time. Panelling has been to the fore of my mind this month with ongoing design projects. One of the projects nearing completion is a beautiful Victorian Terraced townhouse with one of the rooms being fully furnished and panelled by Lefevre of Belgium.
This room needed something extra special to stand-out from all others. As you may know I am a big fan of all things Belgian and have admired Lefevres work for years, I knew their craftsmanship was what this room design needed. We set to work via emails and phonecalls with the owners of Lefevre- Greet and Jan, discussing styles, images, constantly sending sketches back and forth until the furniture and panelling designs were complete. From the outset, I based our room design on this stunning image above by Lefevre.
Greet and Jan flew over to visit the project with us and it was fantastic to finally meet them in person. Their passion, exuberance and love for what they do shone through, they are the perfect team. It is always a risk to step outside the box and work with companies that I have found and that push my boundaries. I cannot relax until everything is delivered and installed and our client is happy.
Throughout the course of working with Lefevre, it was fantastic to receive the constant emails with photographs which Greet took in the workshop to show us each stage of their manufacturing process.
As you can see, these photos show the intricacy of the work they do, the pure skill and craftsmanship and the detailing they add to the panelling and furniture. The photos were extremely helpful especially in reassuring me of the final outcome!!
Their specialist decoration team flew in from Belgium and transformed the wood with an antiqued hand-painted finish and coated the remaining walls with a limed paint to give a moody ambiance. I can’t wait to add all the fabrics and furnishings which will complete the room.
I have long admired Lefevres work so it was super to finally work with them. As a fan of Belgian design I follow Greets inspirational blog Belgian Pearls. I am planning another trip to Belgium soon so I look forward to meeting up with Jan and Greet and doing lots more blogging on all things Belgian.
It was great to finally go live with the blog, it was nerve-wracking, but it was a huge relief to finally press the button. So thank you for all your supportive comments and encouragement. I look forward to continuing to share with you my life of European Design!
